“SAW” AND RESPECT FOR NABI SALLALLAHU ALAYHI WASALLAM

Q: MANY PEOPLE WRITE “(SAW)” AFTER NABI SALLALLAHU ALAYHI WASALLAM’S NAME? IS THIS NOT A SIGN OF DEFICIENCY OF LOVE FOR NABI SALLALLAHU ALAYHI WASALLAM?

A: it is not permissible to write “saw” after Nabi Salllallahu Alayhi Wasallams name. It is very disrespectful to write “saw”. The shortest Durood is Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam – not “saw”. One attains thawaab for saying a durood. On the contrary, one commits a sin with disrespectful abbreviations. Writing “saw’ is indeed a sign of one not having proper love for Nabi Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam.
