MAUT – PART 1
WISHING FOR DEATH DUE TO DIFFICULTIES AND CALAMITIES
Nabi Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam said: “None of you should ever wish for Maut because of a calamity befalling upon one. If a person really desires Maut, then he should say: ‘O Allah – keep me alive as long as life is better for me. And Grant me Maut (death) when death is better for me.”
One should not wish or make Dua for Maut. When a person passes away, then the actions (A’maal) of a man also end. A Mu’min is such that the longer he lives, so much more his good deeds increase. Never think that we will live forever. It is best to abstain from all sins such as TV, photos, Zina, Riba, shaving and trimming the beard less than a fist, abstention from Hijaab, etc. before Maut overtakes us. It is not too late to make Taubah.
GOOD PEOPLE AND EVIL PEOPLE
“A person asked, ‘O Prophet of Allah, from amongst people who is good?’Nabi Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam said: ‘He whose life is long and his actions are good.’The person asked: ‘then from amongst people who is evil?Nabi Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam said: ‘He whose life is long, but his actions are evil.”
THE GIFT OF A MU’MIN
Rasoolullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam said: “The gift of a Mu’min is Maut (death)”
THE DEMOLISHER OF PLEASURES AND ENJOYMENT
Nabi Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam said: “Excessively remember the destroyer of pleasures, i.e. Maut.”
ARE YOU FROM AMONGST THE MOST INTELLIGENT?
Hazrat Umar Radhiyallahu Anhu narrates that Rasoolullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam was asked: ‘Who is the most intelligent from amongst the Mu’mineen?’
Nabi Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam said: ‘The one who remembers Maut (death) the most and the one who prepares beautifully for what comes after Maut. These people are intelligent.”
A SIGN OF A BEAUTIFUL MAUT
Hazrat Anas Radhiyallahu Anhu states that Nabi Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam said: ‘when Allah intends goodness for His servant, then He ‘utilizes’ him.’ It was asked: ‘How does Allah ‘utilize’ him?’ Nabi Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam said: “Allah Ta’ala grants him the Tawfeeq to perform virtuous deeds before Maut.”
May Allah Ta’ala grant us Tawfeeq to practise on the Deen and to abstain from sin. Ameen. Many are unfortunate just before Maut. They are involved in TV, videos, Zina, photography, Haraam shows, Haraam awards, Haraam funstions, cinema, etc. Therefore, it is essential to abstain from sin. Evil Habits of TV, photos, movies, gheebat, zina, haraam chickens, etc. should be shunned before it is too late.
VISITING THE CEMETERY
Nabi Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam said: “Visit the cemetery. For verily it reminds one of Maut (death).”
FOUR CAUSES OF AN EVIL DEATH
- Laziness towards Salaah. (Many Muslims simply don’t’ care)
- Drinking liquor (already Muslims are drinking Haraam soft drinks like Coke, Pepsi, Twizza, etc.)
- Disobedience to parents (The Muslim youth of today behave like their kaafir schoolfriends)
- Causing Takleef to other Muslims (with our tongues, hands and wealth)
The causes of an evil death are not only four. Watching TV is also a major cause of an evil Maut. Every sin is a sign of an evil Maut. Sin is disobedience to Allah. Obedience to Allah leads to a beautiful Maut – not sin!
IN SEARCH OF AN EASY MAUT
It is mentioned in the Ahaadeeth that a Mu’min who does evil actions (sins), so then Maut is difficult (severe) upon him so that it (the hardships of death) could expiate his sins. And if a Kaafir does any good actions, then his Maut is made easy for him so that it could be a recompensation for his good deeds.
A kaafir will dwell eternally in Jahannam. A Mu’min will dwell forever in Jannah. If a Mu’min abstains from sin, then insha Allah Maut will also be easy for him. But Muslims are not prepared to take the TV’s out of their homes. They are not prepared to abstain from Haraam weddings. They are not prepared to desist from taking animate photos. They are not prepared to grow their beards.
Women are not ready to remain glued to their homes which is Allah’s command mentioned in the Qur’aan. Instead, women unnecessarily emerge from their homes for much Haraam. The womenfolk are not prepared to observe Hijaab and cover their faces when it is necessary for them to leave their homes. The Muslims have shunned Islamic ways and have abandoned the Sunnah. How many of us dress, eat, sleep, and conduct our dealings, etc. according to the Sunnah?
The ways of Islam have become alien to us! Ponder over Maut and realize that one day you are also going to die. Your maut is very close to you. Never be deceived by imagining that you will live even the next second. This life which Allah has given us, is a great Ni’mat. Utilize this life to invest in the Aakhirah. All the Haraam will not save us from Allah’s punishment. No rain, drought, heatwaves, natural disasters, price increases, etc. are all forms of Allah’s Athaab. The remedy is only one. Turn to Allah. Follow the Shariah strictly. Observe the Sunnah meticulously. Abstain from all sins, especially TV, music, not observing the laws of Hijaab, Haraam weddings and Walimahs, gheebat, Riba, fulfilling the rights of others, movies, cinema, videos, photos, Bid’aat, eating and drinking Haraam, intermingling of the sexes, etc.! Then Insha Allah, we will see the benefits of our obedience to Allah in this world and the Aakhirah!
