Q: THE BUILDING NEXT TO A MUSLIM’S HOUSE HAS BEEN SOLD TO CHRISTIANS. THEY INTEND TO OPEN A CHURCH THERE AND BY LAW THEY REQUIRE A SIGNATURE FROM THE MUSLIM WHO RESIDES NEXT TO THE BUILDING WHICH THE CHRISTIANS WISH TO CONVERT INTO A CHURCH. IS IT PERMISSIBLE FOR THE MUSLIM TO SIGN FOR THE OPENING OF THE CHURCH?
A: It is obviously not permissible for a Muslim to sign for the opening of the church. Do you think Nabi Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam would agree to a Muslim signing and agreeing to the opening of the church where the worst of crimes and sins take place such as Shirk and Kufr??? Simply refuse to sign in a polite manner. Allah is your Governer – no one else.
It is dishonest to say that the law compels one to sign. The neighbour is permitted by law to refuse signing whether in agreement or against the church proposal. There is no law which compels the neighbour to sign. He should never sign in agreement of the church.
