Q: I MISSED MY ZUHR SALAAH WHILST I WAS ON A JOURNEY. SHOULD I MAKE QADHA AT HOME OF FOUR RAKAATS OR TWO RAKAATS?
A: If you missed Salaah whilst you were a Musaafir, i.e. it became Qadha, then you only have to make Qadha of the amount a Musaafir would perform. For example, if you missed Zuhr whilst being a Musaafir, then you only need to make Qadha of two Rakaats at home because you missed Zuhr Salaah whilst being a Musaafir. Also note that it is a major sin to miss Salaah even when one is on a journey. We require Allah’s assistance all along the journey. Hence, we should not forget Allah and always be in the remembrance of Allah when travelling. On an incline recite Allahu AKbar and on a decline recite Subhaanallah. Keep the tongue engaged in the Kalimah and in Durood of Nabi Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam. And abstain from sin whilst travelling such as gheebat, listening to music, watching/looking at Haraam, etc.
Q: MAY ONE PERFORM JUMUAH SALAAH ON A SHIP WHICH IS DOCKED IN THE HARBOUR?
A: No, Jumuah Salaah may not be performed on a ship whether it is docked in the harbour or it is moving on water.
One of the main reasons why Jumuah Salaah is not valid in prisons, on ships, etc. is the the non-fulfilment of the condition of ‘ithne-Aam’ (general permission).
For the validilty of Jumuah, general permission to the Muslim public is necessary. if this condition is lacking, Jumuah is not permissible and not even valid.
Many Muftis have failed to understand what is written in the Kitaabs. They quote a text from Shaami without understanding what is written.
The text simply means that one may ‘lock the door’. The locking of the door (of the fort/prison/ship) or the security is not meant to prevent Musallis. In fact, they even quote the text which says “locking the door of the fort is (to prevent) the enemy, not (to prevent) the Musalli.”
Now look at their misinterpretation of the texts. But people from outside are not at all allowed to perform Jumuah at a prison, nor are they allowed to even enter the ship. Whereas, the locking supposed to be only for security, the locking is instead to debar the general public from entering.
Nobody is arguing about locking the door or security. We are speaking of the general Muslim public being allowed to participate in the Jumuah. Locking the door should not be interpreted as preventing Musallis. The door must be opened for a Musalli, even if it is kept locked. It is Haraam to prevent a Musalli from Jumuah, even if he is not boarding the ship such as a passenger or he is not a prisoner.
If the locking of the prison or the ship’s entrance is just to prevent an enemy or to ensure safety, then why are the Musallis of the general public prohibited from entering? This proves that there is no Ithne Aam (general permission)! Thus, it is not permissible to perform Jumuah on a ship or in prison.
Q: IS IT APPROPRIATE FOR A MASJID TO HAVE LOUDSPEAKERS FOR SALAAH? SOME SAY THAT THE WOMEN AT HOME LISTEN TO THE SALAAH.
A: Whilst a loudspeaker may be utilized for Bayaans and Azaan, it is not permissible to use a mike/loudspeaker for Salaah or Khutbah. It is not necessary for the women to listen to the Jamaat Salaah! They are performing their Salaah individually and they may not follow the Jamaat Salaah from home. Furthermore, this argument of women listening to the Salaah is a putrid argument for the utilization of loudspeakers for Salaah.
Q: SOME CLAIM THAT MUFTI RAFI UTHMANI AND MUFTI TAQI SAY THAT DIGITAL PHOTOS ARE PERMISSIBLE. THUS, MAY A PERSON WHO TAKES DIGITAL PHOTOS OR WATCHES TV, PERFORM IMAAMATE?
A: Such a person is a Faasiq. It is not permissible for a Faasiq to perform Imaamate. Appointing such a person as an Imaam, is sinful. There is no valid difference of opinion regarding digital photos. Digital photos are Haraam according to all the Ulama-e-Haq. Those who claim that digital photos and TV are permissible, are Shayaateen! If the liberal Mufti Taqi or liberal Mufti Rafi have adopted such a view, then they have merely adopted the baseless opinion of the Shayaateen! We do not follow liberals. We follow the Shariah. Comparing a digital photo to a mirror or negating it from the scope of a picture is the view of a person who lacks intelligence and who wishes or attempts to reject reality. It is commonsense that a digital photo is in fact a picture. Thus, digital photos of animate objects are Haraam.
Q: I KNOW THAT IT IS HARAAM FOR WOMEN TO ATTEND THE MASAAJID AND THE EIDGAHS AND I AM TOTALLY AGAINST LADIES FACILITIES AT THE MASAAJID AS THIS CAUSES FITNAH. I WANTED TO KNOW: CAN I TAKE MY YOUNG FIVE YEAR OLD DAUGHTER TO THE MASJID. SHE IS SWEET. SHE WILL SIT ONE SIDE QUIETLY. PLEASE ADVISE?
A: Masha Allah unto you for believing and accepting that ladies facilities at the Masaajid are wrong and a means of fitnah. You should thank Allah Ta’ala for granting you the Hidaayat of understanding the truth which says that it is Haraam for all women to attend the Masaajid and the Eidgah according to all Four Math-habs which is the Fatwa of the Sahaabah who are described as ‘stars’ by Nabi Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam.
However, you should not take your daughter to the Masjid. The habit of taking young girls to the Masjid, even if they 3 years old, is a very bad habit. Good habits of Hijaab should be inculcated into girls from the cradle. There is no Hijaab at the Masaajid. The so-called ladies facilities are a mockery to the Deen. It is not permissible for any females to be at the Masaajid – even if the Shayaateen have built separate facilities for the sake of luring women out of their homes for Salaah which is in direct conflict of what Nabi Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam has said. The Sahaabah understood the Deen better than anyone else.
The strict conditions which Nabi Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam imposed upon women when they emerged from their homes to attend the Masaajid were not observed during the era of the Sahaabah. Thus, the Sahaabah prohibited women from the Masaajid. They used to throw stones at the women. Today’s time, the situation is much worse which necessitates an even harder approach. Thus, Hazrat Ibn Hajar Haitami Rahimahullah declared that anyone who hesitates in prohibiting women from the Masjid, is a moron. May Allah guide you and keep you steadfast on the Truth. Ameen
Q: AFTER THE AZAAN OF MAGHRIB, FOR HOW LONG SHOULD A PERSON WAIT BEFORE THE IQAAMAH COULD BE RECITED?
A: After a short pause whereby a person could walk three steps or recite three short Aayats, the Iqaamah may be recited.
Q: SOMETIMES WHEN I GO FOR FAJR SALAAH, THEN THE IMAAM IS ALREADY IN HIS SECOND RAKAAT. IF I PERFORM MY SUNNATS, I WILL MISS THE JAMAAT. SO I FIRSTLY PERFORM MY FARDH WITH JAMAAT AND THEN I PERFORM MY SUNNATS. PLEASE ADVISE IF THIS IS CORRECT?
A: You should try your best to be abit earlier in the Masjid so that you could perform your two Rakaats Sunnah as well as joining the Jamaat with Takbeer-e-Tahreeema. There is much more thawaab in this. In the situation described above, you should perform your two Sunnats of Fajr after Ishraaq. One may not perform the two Sunnats after the Fardh of Fajr.
